Following the
success at Pietermaritzburg’s Hexagon Dive in 2015 of Anthony Stonier’s last
one-man show, The Sound of his Music – Richard Rodgers, Stonier is
delighted to be back in Pietermaritzburg again with this new two-man production
titled Accustomed To His Words–
The Lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner
One of the most
prolific writers and lyricists of the 20th Century, Alan Jay Lerner wrote the
book and lyrics to many of the world’s best-loved musicals, My Fair Lady,
Camelot, Gigi, Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon and On A Clear Day You Can
See Forever.
Stonier sings hits
from these and other hit musicals with Evan Roberts at the piano as Musical
Director, celebrating the beauty, wit and style of a master wordsmith.
Stonier has been a
part of the KZN and National Theatre industry for 28 years. He has been
involved in numerous productions over the years in capacities ranging from
actor/singer to pianist to composer. He won a VITA award in 1989 for Frank ‘n Stein and has since won two
Durban Theatre Awards for Best Male Vocalist in 2003 and 2007.
Evan Roberts - The call
of the stage, lights, sound and performance has long been a core part of
award-winning musician and musical director Evan Roberts’s life. A self-taught
musician, he has played the piano since age four. He has won numerous awards
for his work on and behind the stage, including several Theatre Awards for
performance and musical direction. Evan was also nominated for a NALEDI award
for musical direction for his work on the musical Cabaret which toured SA to critical acclaim. Evan has achieved
significant success both on stage and in the corporate world with his events
company Makulu Events, building a reputation for top quality productions and
corporate events.

Lerner will take place at the Hexagon Dive on the UKZN Pietermaritzburg
campus in Golf Road There wil be shows on February 12 and 13 at 19h00 for
19h30. These are picnic evenings – bring food, but no drinks, as there is a
