Friends of Music will host a recital by pianist Philippe
Raskin and violinist Johannes-Fleischmann on January 19.
Raskin (Brussels) was awarded several national and international
prizes including JS Bach, Gretry Rotary Paris International and Lyon Club
competitions. In 2012 he was the winner of the Lyon International and first
prize winner in the Spanish Competition-Madrid.
Fleischmann (Vienna) is a chamber musician who has worked
with many well-known artists such as Altenberger and Malov and has performed in
Wiener Musikverein, Linz, Santory Hall (Tokyo) and the Flagey in Brussels. He has
worked closely with Daniel Barenboim, Sir Davis, Lauren Maazel, Zubin Mehta,
Sir Simon Rattle and R Muti.
Their programme will include Mozart’s Sonata for piano and
Violin in E minor, KV 304; Beethoven’s Sonata for piano and violin No 5 in F
major, op. 24, and Sonata for violin and piano in E-flat major, Op. 18 by
Strauss.
The Prelude Performer will be singer Tumelo Zondi accompanied
by Amina Carini.
The concert will take place at 19h30 on January 19 at the Durban
Jewish Centre, 44 K E Masinga (Old Fort) Road in Durban. Tickets R100 (R80 FOM
members and R20 Orchestral and Students). There is safe parking.
