It’s summer and it’s steamy in Durban which means that
it’s the perfect time to embrace the hot and sultry sounds of Latin America at
The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway, from February 2 to March 6.
La Vida has everything packaged into two
hours of the contagious Latino vibe, from awesome dancers to the sexy vocalists
and virtuoso musicians, and it sambas onto the stage delivering a
wonderful mix of magic.
La Vida is a show that will put
audiences in the groove and get them rocking to the sounds of Santana, Ricky
Martin, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, The Gipsy Kings and Ritchie Valens. It takes
them from the Copacabana where music and passion is always the fashion,
to dancing the Conga with Gloria Estefan, to the fun-inspired Macarena
and The Ketchup Song. La Vida will also rock Durbanites with the
powerhouse sounds of Santana’s Well All Right, Smooth and She’s
Not There.
La Vida showcases some of the most
inspired dance routines on any Barnyard Theatre stage and also features an
energetic 10-piece cast that portrays the sexiness of Ricky Martin with hits
like Living La Vida Loco and Shake Your Bon Bon, to the
raunchiness of Shakira with Hips Don’t Lie and Objection Tango.
The cast is made up of Ruan
Geldenhuys, Wayne Cumming and Nadine Sisam on vocals, Barry Thomson on guitar
and vocals, Calli Thomson on keyboards, Ian Jones on bass guitar, Francois Hardy
on drums and Shaun Duval on saxophone. And, no Latin American show would be
complete without dancers, so setting the stage alight will be Keenan du Plessis
and Anzel van Zyl.
