(Thuli Zuma)
This Valentine’s
month, get your love on at The Playhouse Company with the first of the Company’s
monthly Sundowners concerts of the year taking place on February 5 at the
Playhouse.
Featuring performances
of music and poetry, this early evening concert is the chilled way to end off
the working week and ease yourself into the weekend.
Heading the line-up
of poets is high-profile poet, Thuli Zuma, who is currently a producer of the
local telenovela show Uzalo. She is
very well-known to Playhouse audiences, having MC’d The Playhouse Company’s
South African Women’s Arts Festival Gala Concert, as well as curating the
Festival’s Sundowners concerts. Joining her on stage will be fellow poets Lady-Afrika, Thubelihle Mthembu and
Ntokozo Sngqazu.
Also on the line-up
for the evening is the band Love Thing. Established two years ago after several
years of working together on the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, Love Thing
comprises founder Zolani Maseko, and members Mthobisi, Xolelwa, Nompilo, Senzi
and Sphe, whose collective focus is on spreading the message of love among
people through songs that carry a strong message about love and relationships.
Currently in the studio recording their first album, Love Thing is popular on
the corporate circuit, as well as at various events such as weddings.
The evening will be
MC’d by Page Ngwenya.
The concert will
take place on February 5 from 17h00 in the Playhouse coffee shop. Sundowner
concerts are free to the public, and drinks and light meals will be on offer
from the coffee shop and the bar. Discounted parking is available at both the
Royal Parkade and at the Albany Parkade.
