The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway will stage a tribute to guitar legends when they host Imaginary Friends for one night only on January 26.
For the past seven years, Mel Botes has entertained
audiences all over South Africa with his critically-acclaimed musical
performances Crazy Diamond - A
Tribute to Pink Floyd, Dark Side Of The
Moon (Chapter II in series of Pink Floyd tribute shows), and Sultans Of Swing – Tribute To Dire
Straits.
Audiences and critics agreed that he mastered the complexity
and density of the music of these shows in a way that none of the other tribute
shows had achieved. The new production, Imaginary
Friends, was fueled by public demand and promises everything audiences have
come to expect from the virtuoso. It features Mel Botes’ personal favorite
songs of his guitar heroes such as Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, Dave
Gilmour, Gary Moore, Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix and Steve Lukather.
This show also gives Botes the opportunity to showcase some
of his original work together with that of a selection of the most successful
rock guitarists of all time. He has chosen to remain true to his mission which
includes powerfully entertaining original concept shows.
Imaginary Friends has
one performance on January 26. The theatre will open at 18h30, with the show
starting at 20h00. Tickets R150 pp. For bookings and enquiries, phone The
