Friends of Music presents acclaimed Duo Zappa Mainolfi on February
23.
Duo Zappa Mainolfi is made up of cellist Mattia Zappa (Switzerland)
and pianist Massimiliano Mainolfi (Italy). The duo was formed while the artists
were studying at the Julliard School of Music in 1994. They have won numerous
chamber music competitions and have done many radio broadcasts and CD
recordings.
Their programme will include Sergey Prokofiev’s Sonata for
Cello and Piano Op.119 (C-Major); Antonin Dvořák’s Rondo (concert piece); Franz
Schubert’s “Arpeggione” Sonata in A minor and Tchaikovsky’s Pezzo Capriccioso
Op.62.
The Prelude Performer will be guitarist Arianna Carini who is
studying classical guitar with James Grace. She will play Cavatina (Theme from Deer
Hunter) by John Williams, Homenajapour Guitare by Manuel de Falla and Las
Abejas by Agustin Barrios.
The recital takes place on February 23 at 19h30 at the Durban
Jewish Centre, 44 K E Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban. Tickets R100 (R80 FOM members and R20 Orchestral
and Students) There is safe parking.
