MEMPHIS55 FOR PMB

(Rob Warren, Greg Bedford, Garth Warren & Gareth Gale)

The Allan Wilson Shellhole (Rhumbelow Theatre PMB) will present Memphis55 by The Black Lapels for two performances on February 28. The Black Lapels comprise Rob Warren (guitar/vocal), Garth Warren (bass/vocal), Gareth Gale (drums) and Greg Bedford (lead guitar). Formally known as Zaffa they presented the highly successful Johnny Cash Show as seen at Hilton Arts Festival 2013.

Memphis55 is the new smash-hit tribute show inspired by the 1955 collaboration between rock ’n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins! The quartet met in 1955 at the famed Sun Records under legendary producer Sam Phillips. They went on to tour throughout the Americas and the world and changed the course of music history inspiring a new generation of musicians including The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones and many more! Paul McCartney noted that “if there were no Carl Perkins there would have been no Beatles”.

The show features a score of rock hits including: BlueSuede Shoes Thats Alright, Cry Cry Cry, Great Balls Of Fire, Walk The Line, Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On, Who Do You Love?, Matchbox, Folsom Prison Blues, Hound Dog, Jail House Rock and many more.

Performances take place on February 28 at 14h00 and 18h30 (the venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnics). Tickets R140 (R120 pensioners and tables of 8 or more). Bring food picnic baskets. Limited secure parking available and there is a cash bar (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises).
