Highly popular jazz
band, Platform Jazz, joins a line-up of poets for The Playhouse Company’s
monthly Sundowners concert on March 4.
Everyone at
sometime in their lives has either been to - or had - a party. We all celebrate
milestones in our lives such as birthdays, engagements, weddings, achievements,
certain holidays, and so forth, and celebrating usually means being with
people, having fun, eating and drinking, dressing up, singing and dancing.
Well, it’s time to celebrate with Platform Jazz and an impressive line-up of
poets at The Playhouse Company in March!
Platform Jazz is
set to offer jazz party favourites from the gangster and Great Gatsby parties,
evergreen tunes from the Swing era, conga line Latin favourites, and songs that
just celebrate life. Following their recent success in January –“Their best and
most jovial show to date,” according to The Mercury --Platform Jazz will perform
great favourites such as Mac the Knife, Feeling
Good, Rum and Coca Cola, Tequila!, Here’s to Life, Let’s Fall in Love, C’est si
bon, What a wonderful world and Quando
quando, to name just a few.
Join Jeff Judge on sax,
Dunc the Hunc on trombone, Kirsten the Kitten on clarinet, Melvin Peters on the
keys, Andreas on bass, Bashful Bruce on drums, songbird Shelley McLean at the
mic and Cathy Hotlips Peacock on trumpet.
Also on the
programme is the enormously popular poets’ line-up. Poets Xoliswa Nomashenge
Dlamini, Mutle Andries Mothibe, Anushka Ramchuran and Jabulani Itumeleng Mkhize
will perform their own original works for enthusiastic Sundowners audiences.
