(Sibusiso Mkhize)
On March 2, the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will
present Sound, Love, Peace and Honesty
by Durban born trumpeter Sibusiso Mkhize.
Mkhize will be introducing patrons to the music in his debut
recording Sound, Love, Peace and Honesty.
Also performing on Fugel horn, he will be joined by Dalisu Ndlazi (bass),
Sanele Phakathi (piano), Leon Sharnick (saxophones) and Sbu Zondi (drums).
His career highlights include being a part of the Standard
Bank Youth Jazz Band which was led by Marcus Wyatt and Paul Hanmer in 2012 and
2013 respectively. In 2012, the Standard Bank Youth Band toured Sweden and
featured in the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz. He has also played in bands with
accomplished musicians such as Dr Brian Thusi, Themba Mkhize UKZN Big Band and
Mcoy Mrubatha.
The Sibusiso Mkhize concert will take place on March 2 at
18h00 at The Centre for Jazz and Popular music (CJPM), Level 2, Shepstone
Building at UKZN Howard College Campus. Doors open at 17h30. General admission R60
(R40 pensioners/R20 students).
