SUPERCHOP

(Jacobus Van Heerden)

The multi-award winning Neon Anthems are back with their most ambitious show to date. Written by and starring Jacobus Van Heerden (recently seen as Lord Farquaad in KickstArt’s Shrek) and directed by Liam Magner, Superchop is a satirical comedy which parodies the famous, and those desperate to be famous.

Playing on the reality competition format, it features a range of unforgettable characters, interspersed with hilarious video content and high energy song and dance numbers.

Superchop first previewed at the 2013 Musho! Festival where it received rave reviews before going on to win the judges’ vote award for best show. Since then the show has been re-invented to include a more ambitious set, outrageously beautiful dancers, and choreography by the award-winning David Gouldie.

Superchop promises to take audiences on a whirlwind comedy roller-coaster ride, of biblical proportions. “Book now or forever hold your peace”, say the producers.

Starring Jacobus van Heerden, Superchop is directed by Liam Magner and features Boniwe Majwede, Nadine Oberholzer, Amber Jean Hogg and Kendyll Samantha Plu'g. Lighting and set by Michael Broderick and Bryan Hiles. Video editing and audio visuals by Mark Edwards.

In reviewing the show for artSMart, Keith Millar wrote: “His presentation of these wonderful characters was an absolute delight and my ribs were aching from laughing long before the end of the show... Benson you are my hero!”

Superchop runs at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from March 2 to 13 with performances at 19h30 with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 14h30. Tickets available at Computicket with block bookings organised through Ailsa Windsor on editor.goingplacessa@gmail.com or 083 250 2690.
