FABULOUS FRANCOFÊTE

(Vusi Makhanya)

The Alliance Française de Durban presents the exciting, free fifth annual Francofête on Human Rights Day which takes place under the trees in Sutton Park in Durban’s Morningside tomorrow (March 21).

On the park lawns there will be a series of dance programmes featuring various dance groups under the direction of Vusi Makhanya – featuring children as well as the senior company from KwaMashu School of Dance Theatre. Another highlight will be a performance by the KZN Youth Wind Band.

The event is in two parts with a daytime family event from 10h00 until 16h00 and an evening sundowner music concert featuring francophone world music from 16h30 until 21h30 which culminates with a set by jazz icon, guitarist and vocalist Louis Mhlanga and Madagascar accordion player Regis Gizavo.

The ever proactive Alliance Française uses this annual opportunity to showcase some of the best French; Francophone and French-inspired music; dance; theatre; story-telling; workshops; visual arts; exhibitions ... and of course wonderful food and crafts in the alfresco market.

For more information, visit the Alliance Française at 22 Sutton Crescent, Morningside, or contact 031 312 9582.
