(Christopher Duigan & David Salleras)
Friends of Music’s
next recital features internationally acclaimed saxophonist from Spain, David
Salleras, and leading South African concert pianist, Christopher Duigan.
Salleras is
regarded as one of world’s leading contemporary classical saxophone players.
His flexibility and knowledge of multiple musical genres, coupled with his
unique ideas, has resulted in a highly successful international career.
However, his
partnership with Steinway artist and leading South African concert pianist,
producer and impresario Christopher Duigan has focused on something quite
different; Duigan’s own original music for saxophone and piano which Salleras sees
as a valuable contribution to the saxophone repertoire.
The dynamic duo
will play items from their highly commended CD Indigo as well as Pequeña
Czardas and Suite Hellènique by
Pedro Iturralde, Nella fantasia by
Ennio Morricone, The Devil’s Rag by J
Mattia and Oblivion, Fracanapa by
Astor Piazzola.
The Prelude
Performer at the recital will be 13 year old singing sensation Lasandra Majola.
She will sing Clown by Emeli Sandé, African Dream by Vicky Sampson and Special Star by Mango Groove.
