The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s School of Arts (music) will
present a free lunch-hour concert by AMD 3 group 2 featuring Ayanda Dlamini,
Philisiwe Fakude and Philani Thabethe on March 9 at Howard College Theatre.
The group has chosen the theme Soul of Africa as the group believes that their performance
represents many different parts of Africa with their songs and dances.
This concert includes original compositions and choreography
by final year students specializing in African Music and Dance. The group promises
a modern twist of classic African rhythms. Expect to experience the Ghetto
dance choreographed by Dlamini and an arrangement of Afro Gospel (Isigqi) by
Dlamini; Is'cathamiya music genre, Slow Modern uMzansi dance, both composed by
Thabethe and percussion pieces by Thabethe with a central African flavour. One
of Fakude’s highlights will be Ingoma- Shiyameni .
