(Zethe)
The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will present recent BA
(Music) graduate Zethe – Qhawekazi on May 4.
Zethembiso Mdletshe - fondly known as Zethe - is a
Afro/soul/jazz vocalist based in Durban. She has performed in various venues
around the country. Some of her musical influences include Somi, Esperanza
Spalding, Lindiwe Maxolo, Lalah Hathaway and Asa.
At the Centre for Jazz she will perform mostly her
compositions and a few covers. The experimental sounds of Zethe deal
with various themes such as self-love, identity, womanhood and overcoming
through adversity.
Join Zethe-Qhawekazi, with Zibusiso Makhathini
(piano), Dalisu Ndlanzi (bass) and Riley Giandhari (drums) at The Centre for
Jazz and Popular Music (CJPM), on May 4 - doors open at 17h30 with the show
starting at 18h00. General admission R60 (R40 pensioners, R20 students).
