Friends of Music will host a Trio Recital with Christopher Duigan,
Junnan Sun and Aristide du Plessis on June 28.
Christopher Duigan is one
of South Africa’s leading pianists and a Steinway Artist.. He completed his
studies at the Royal College in Manchester where he was awarded the
Professional Performer’s Diploma and won first prize in the prestigious RNCM
Recital Prize for pianists.
Junnan Sun (Chinese) is
the Principal Clarinettist for the KZN Philharmonic. He has performed solo and
chamber music recitals in concert venues abroad such as Berlin Konzerthaus
(Germany), Royal Festival Cadogan Hall and the St Paul’s Cathedral in the U.K.
Aristide du Plessis has
established a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading cellists. He has
performed in some of the world’s most renowned halls for example Tonhalle,
Vienna Musikverein, Herkulessaal (Munich), Wiener Konzerthaus and the Berliner
Philharmonic.
The programme will
include Ludwig van Beethoven’s Trio in B-flat major for clarinet, cello and
piano , Op 11 and his Sonata for cello and piano in A major, Op 69 as well as Camille
Saint-Saens’s clarinet - Sonata E-flat Op 167 and Johannes Brahms’ Trio A minor
for Clarinet cello and piano Op 114.
The Prelude
Performer will be Kirsten Moody (flute) who will perform Francis Poulenc’s Sonata
for flute and piano accompanied by Rita Deysel.
The concert will
take place on June 28 at 19h30 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 K.E. Masinga
Road, Durban. Tickets R100 (R80 FOM members and R20 Orchestral members/Students). Booking
