(Conductor Daniel Walshaw)
The
KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at St Agnes Church in Kloof on
June 30.
Hosted in
association with Christopher Duigan’s Music Revival, the KZN Philharmonic - slightly
reduced to 40 players for this intimate setting – will play Ludwig van
Beethoven’s youthful, celebratory Symphony
No 2 and Piano Concerto No 3.
Pietermaritzburg-based
Duigan, who is regarded as one of South Africa's foremost concert pianists, is
the soloist in the piano concerto; and the principal clarinettist of the
orchestra, Junnan Sun, will feature in the serene 'Adagio' from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, as popularised in the
film Out of Africa.
American
Daniel Walshaw, who also acts as the KZN Philharmonic’s artistic administrator,
will conduct the orchestra.
The concert
will take place at St Agnes Church in Abelia Road, Kloof, at 19h30 on June 30. Tickets
for the concert - which is part of a monthly concert series at the venue - are
R150. Booking is essential. Phone the church at 031 764 2037 or email booking@musicrevival.co.za
