The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) is South Africa’s premier
independent arts funding and development agency. The primary aim of ACT is to
increase the amount of funding available for arts and culture initiatives, and
to apply these funds to innovative, sustainable projects that make a meaningful
contribution to society.
Through structured funding and development programmes, ACT
provides support for a broad range of arts and culture activities, including
literature, music, visual art, theatre and dance, and the support extends to
festivals, community arts initiatives, arts management, arts education and arts
administration.
“We are delighted to announce that we have recently been made
a beneficiary of the MySchool / MyVillage / MyPlanet programme,” says ACT CEO,
Pieter Jacobs. “If you sign up to the My School Card, every time you purchase items from
participating retailers such as Woolworths, Engen, Quick Shops and Bidvest
Waltons or if you shop online at loot.co.za, the Trust receives a nominal
donation.”
With every purchase, a percentage of the transaction is
donated to ACT which helps the organisation to continue its efforts toward the
advancement of the arts and culture sector in South Africa. Since inception,
the Trust disbursed more than R22 million to more than 800 projects across the
country. Additionally, more than R2 million has been made available for
undergraduate studies in the arts, more than 500 practitioners and artists were
given free access to arts management short courses and more than 150 recipients
have been acknowledged through the annual ACT Awards for making a lasting
impact on arts and culture in South Africa.
It is free to sign up.
