The next recital from Friends of Music
will feature Capella Concertante and takes place on August 2.
Capella Concertante is a classical wind
quintet from Austria. They have enjoyed successful concert tours in South
Africa as well as to countries such as Brazil, Chile, Namibia, Belgium,
Hungary, Italy and Greece. As well as performing classical woodwind chamber
music, the ensemble also places emphasis on the reproduction of music of the
20th century and the modern age.
The ensemble includes Johanna Dumfart
(soprano); Clemens Umbauer (flute); Magdalena Bauer (oboe); Mathias Kreischer
(Clarinet); Hubert Ecklbauer (horn); Markus Presenhuber (bassoon) and Anton
Neulinger (double bass)
The programme will include works by W
Mozart, J Takacs, E Szervansky, Tchaikovsky, M Lanza, Strauss, E Kalman, V
Coleman, A Piazzola, F Lehar and V Monti.
The Prelude Performer for the evening
will be Sabastian Marimuthu (violin) who will be accompanied by Dana Hadjiev in
a selection of works by Bach, Handel, von Weber and Seitz.
The concert takes place on August 2 at
19h30 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 K E Masinga (Old Fort) Road. Durban.
