Lucky is a South African film that has touched the hearts and minds of international audiences, and shows that the country’s troubled history of racial conflict and prejudice does not need to stand in the way of caring and kindness.

The film will be shown on M-Net Movies DStv Channel 139 at 19h30. Directed by Avie Luthra in 2012, the film stars Sihle Dlamini, Jayashree Basavaraj and James Ngcobo.

Lucky is a 10-year-old Zulu boy, who hasn’t had much luck in life. He is an orphan, and his prospects are grim. He decides to pursue a better life for himself, and sets off for the city. There he forges an unlikely bond with an Indian woman, who has to let go of her prejudices and fears. Rating: 16SNL
