The Still Sessions at Distillery031 will feature Mali Zulu
& Band on July 6.
Mali Zulu is a talented musician born in a village called
KwaMaphumulo, on the outskirts of Stanger in the beautiful grassy plains of Northern
KwaZulu Natal. He grew up singing in school choirs from Grade One and in Grade
Twelve he was selected for the Northern KwaZulu Natal Youth Choir, where he
received practical coaching and travelled throughout South Africa.
Mali Zulu will perform at The Still Sessions with a three-piece
acoustic band which includes himself as lead vocalist and guitarist with Qin
Zungu on vocals and acoustic guitar and Skippy Khubeka on bass.
When asked what Mali Zulu would bring to the Still Sessions,
he said: “ They say Love makes the world go around, you will either think about
your Lover or you will dance together.”
In 2014, Zulu entered Idols Season 10 and made it to the top
31. Following this he landed a record deal and started working on his own
compositions. He a musician at heart and his life is driven by music. He has
graced the stage at some of South Africa’s most beautiful venues and festivals,
such as The Rock Music Bistro, The Lion’s Festival, The Dutch and The Outland
Festival. His biggest dream is to have his own studio, so he could offer other
people a chance to experience producing their own music and succeeding in their
careers.
His latest single titled Try
is available online and he is currently working on an EP.
The Still Sessions is a monthly music and dining experience presented
by Distillery031 and iSupport Music Business. Distillery031 is Durban’s first
craft distillery and home to an intimate cocktail bar and dining area.
Mali Zulu & Band will appear in The Still Sessions on
July 6 at 18h30 at Distillery031, 1st Floor The Foundry, 43 Station Drive.
