(Monet’s garden at Giverny)
Arts Interactive will present an illustrated talk by Daryl
Houghton on July 13. Titled Ponds,
Paintings and Peonies - a visit to
Monet's home at Giverny, the talk represents a train ride from Paris to the
village of Giverny to visit the home of Claude Monet, the great French
Impressionist painter.
Here Monet established an extensive garden which became the
main inspiration for most of his later paintings. He also created a series of
lily ponds which led to the creation of his magnificent series of Waterlilies -
works created with a freedom that is often a characteristic of artists in their
old age.
At this time the artist wrote, 'I am caught up in my work
with no thought for anything else ...
Arts Interactive is run by Nicole Pletts and is an interactive
group/gathering of those interested in the betterment of the visual arts.
Meetings are held every month.
The next meeting will take place on July 13 at 18h00 for
18h30 at the College Rovers Rugby Club, Kings Park Stadium at
Jacko Jackson Drive in Durban. Entrance R120 per person.
There will be car guards in attendance and the area is safe with
