WARTS AND ALL

(Clive Scott)

Rhumbelow Theatre will present Clive Scott’s Warts And All! from July 22 to 24.

Clive Scott has always made people laugh, whether it was as the beloved Ted Dixon (aka “Hey Stupid!”) in The Villagers and Isidingo or in his various roles in Oh George, Life Begins at 40, The John Ross Story and River Horse Lake.

Now, this respected South African veteran of stage and screen has gathered all his experience, wisdom, funniness and poignancy to present a one-man show encompassing all of it.

Scott stars in his autobiographical one man show, Warts and All, offering an iconic  tribute to some of South Africa’s best loved theatre moments. Rhumbelow Theatre warns: “You had better bring the tissues – for the tears of laughter that are sure to roll.’

Warts and All is a South African road trip of note, taking audiences from Parkview, Johannesburg to Springs, Cape Town and Salisbury. “We even pop across the pond for 12 years to London (yes, the big one in England),” explains Scott, “and then back into the heady world of South African stars and a few stripes.”

“Theatre in South Africa has long maintained a special role in connecting us to our past, our present and hope for our future. Clive Scott is one of the few actors whose 50 year career, storytelling prowess, wealth of experience and insight, is able to cast light on places we have been, enabling us to understand where we are now so that we can decide where to from here. And all this with a belly full of laughter and a heart full of joy,” explains Rhumbelow management.

Warts and All has performances on July 22 at 20h00, July 23 at 14h00 and 20h00 and July 24 at 18h30. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner.

A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Durban is situated at 42 Cunningham Road off Bartle Road in Umbilo.
