The Durban Symphonic Choir turns 50 this year! To celebrate,
they are joining forces with the KwaZulu-Natal Youth Choir and the KwaZulu-Natal
Philharmonic Orchestra for a first-time performance of Karl Jenkins’ Requiem on August 14.
An exciting and beautiful choral work blending words from
the Latin requiems with Japanese Death poems. There will be over 140 singers on
stage, with Naum Rousine conducting and Vanessa Tait-Jones as the soprano. The
first half of the concert will have a variety of sacred music ranging from two
items from Messiah to the very
beautiful Panis Angelicus sung by the
Youth Choir.
The concert takes place on August 14 at 14h30 at St Joseph’s
Cathedral, Mariannhill. Tickets R120 (children under 12 free). Safe parking!
