Platform 1
is a performance and choreographic platform for aspiring dancers and
choreographers. The intention is to develop the performance and choreographic
abilities of training dancers, while forming links between dancers, training
institutions and practitioners.
Participants and collaborations include Eden College Durban,
Locomotion, KwaMashu School of Dance Theatre, Dusi Dance Company, Movement
Laboratory and Mzamo Kunene.
Dance and theatre practitioners involved in the Platform are
Shelby Strange, Vusi Makanya, Steven El Fantastico, Thobile Maphanga, Jean van
Elden, Musa Hlatshwayo, Catherine Hampton and Bryan Hiles.
Platform 1 has
performances in the Playhouse Loft on September 9 at 11h00 and 19h00 and on
September 10 at 14h00 and 19h00. Tickets R80 (R60 scholar/student/pensioner) available
through Computicket. Tickets R50 for school block bookings through Playhouse
Box office only.
