The 2016 annual Bass Day, held on October 29 at Musketeers,
the German Club in Westville, brings together bass players from all over South
Africa for an event that will feature some of the country’s most celebrated
bassists.
The idea is to feature the best in music, playing either a
double bass or an electric bass – the heartbeat of music. Music students from
COPA, UKZN, Durban Music School. Embury College and Thomas Moore, as well as
other interested individuals can attend the workshop at 16h00 before the
concert.
There will be a two hour session in the afternoon for up-coming
bassists to perform.
The evening concert will feature Philani Ngidi, Trevor
Donjeany, Ruben Thomas, Kevin Rengasmay, Dale Wardell, Logan Byrne, Llewelyn
Chetty, Brayden Hore, Daniel Wilson, Daliso Ndlazi, Rick de Kock, Talent Mbatha
and Bonga Zulu. These are popular bassists from groups such as Avade, Afro
Divas, Beat Route, Habit To, Kevolution, Quark, 5th Season amongst others. The
event is unique but has genres for all tastes. The event will be filmed with a
TV unit.
The music will start at 18h00. Musketeers is at the German
Club, 7 Barham Road in Westville. Entry R50 includes a raffle ticket and there
are many prizes to be won. For more information contact Jill on 072 115 0850 or
