The yearly
celebration of Indian culture, the Annual
Eastern Extravaganza, will once again be hosted at the Golden Horse Casino
in Pietermaritzburg, taking place this year on November 5, 2016.
One of the
festival’s aims is to honour the Indian culture through a display of different
arts, talent and professional entertainment. This festival will also celebrate
the end of Diwali, otherwise known as the Festival of Lights.
The Annual Eastern Extravaganza, currently
in its 13th year, offers a variety of family orientated entertainment. This
includes appearances by celebrated local artists, authentic dance groups, as
well as a variety of aromatic Indian cuisines, crafts and cultural stalls.
“We are truly
honoured to once again host the Annual Eastern Extravaganza at our venue. We
have seen an increase in attendance every year, with a crowd of 7,000 attending
in 2010, doubling up to 14,000 last year. We are eager to see how many South
Africans will be joining in the celebrations this year,” says Moonyean Smit,
Golden Horse Casino Marketing Manager.
The event also
gives a platform for local charities to make their presence known. On the day,
the local CANSA association branch will host a Spray-a-thon to create awareness
around their cause.
The Annual Eastern Extravaganza will be
hosted at The Golden Horse Casino’s Grandstands at 45 New England Road
in Pietermaritzburg, and entrance is
free.
