What
better way for The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway to celebrate the year-end than
by paying tribute to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood? Their festive season
production, Hollywood Walk Of Fame, features the greatest music from the greatest movies and runs at the popular
mall venue from October 11 through to January 8.
The Hollywood Walk
of Fame comprises more than 2,500 five-pointed brass stars
embedded in the sidewalks along Hollywood
Boulevard in Los
Angeles. Now, The Barnyard Theatre
presents a tribute to the
unforgettable songs that have become as iconic as the films that they were
composed for, and whose stars became showbiz stalwarts, with their names
etched into our memories and into this famous Hollywood Walk of Fame forever.
Hollywood
Walk of Fame is a
dazzling roller-coaster ride that starts with a trip to the dance movies of the
80s, 90s and beyond. These movies will inspire audiences to dance and put on their
boogie shoes when they encounter John Travolta in the 70’s classic Saturday
Night Fever, not to mention the hit singles from The Bee Gees, KC and the
Sunshine Band and Yvonne Elliman. The 70s were also responsible for the
all-time classic Grease - who could ever forget the sensational Frankie
Valli and The Four Seasons, and Olivia Newton-John? The 80s produced some of
the highest-grossing movies ever, such as Flashdance, Footloose, Dirty
Dancing and Fame.
Also
featured are some of the greatest ballads ever to be featured as movie themes.
Just think back to I Do It For You by Bryan Adams from Robin Hood:
Prince of Thieves; I Believe I Can Fly by R Kelly from Space Jam;
and the ultimate movie ballad, My Heart
Will Go on by Celine Dion from Titanic.
Also
featured is music from cult movies such as Pulp Fiction, The Rocky
Horror Picture Show and The Rock of Ages as well as movie themes such
as Space Odyssey, Peter Gunn, Phantom of the Opera, Star Wars and Mission
Impossible.
Whether
it be a year-end staff function, family outing or festive season celebration,
the movie hits of Hollywood Walk Of Fame are sure to get the party
started! To accommodate festive season revelry, additional lunch time shows
(starting at 13h30) have been added on November 18 and 25, December 2, 8, 9, 13,
14 and 15.
The
Barnyard Theatre at Gateway will again be staging their very popular Christmas
Eve and New Year’s Eve shows. The Christmas Eve show will take place on December
24, so will be at the normal ticket price of R165 pp. The New Year’s Eve show
will start at 21h00, will feature an extra set and countdown into 2017 before a
DJ takes over the dance floor. Tickets for the show on December 31 will cost
R350 pp.
