COLD FACT- RODRIGUEZ

(Barry Thomson, Dawn Selby, Mali Sewell & Jason Andrew)

Cold Fact - Rodriguez is a musical tribute to Rodriguez’s music performed by Barry Thomson and The Reals at Rhumbelow Theatre from December 2 to 4..

Who would know that an unknown album from an unknown artist in 1970 (Rodriguez) would become a huge phenomenon in South Africa?

As big as, say, Elvis Presley, Rodriguez himself was never aware of his huge success, as well as most other Americans. His music was lost in the US but, by a strange coincidence becomes a cult hit in South Africa and becomes a symbol of rebellion for the underground white, anti-apartheid sub-culture.

Performed by Barry Thomson, Dawn Selby, Mali Sewell and Jason Andrew, the show features all his well-remembered songs such as I Wonder, Establishment Blues and Sugar Man, amongst others.

Performances take place on December 2 and 3 at 20h00 and on December 4 at 14h00 and 18h30. (The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnics). Tickets R140 (R120 pensioners and block bookings of 8 or more). Bring food picnic baskets (braais are available) but and there is a cash bar (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Limited secure parking available. Rhumbelow Theatre is situated at 42 Cunningham Road off Bartle Road, Umbilo, Durban
