CHRISTMAS ON A PLATE ON DSTV



This joyful season, DStv is serving up a feast of Christmas favourites and new festive highlights to satisfy every palate. When you decide to take a breather from gift shopping, visiting family or indulging in your Christmas lunch, be sure to enjoy some of the jolly delights DStv has on offer.

“The festive season is the perfect time for family viewing – programming created for every member of the family to relax, put up their feet and enjoy watching,” says Aletta Alberts, General Manager for Content for MultiChoice.

“Parents might say the holidays are all about the kids - and keeping them happy and entertained is DStv’s top priority - but we’re not forgetting about the movie buffs, the foodies, the music lovers, the series and the reality fans. There’s something for everyone. Special holiday channels fliekNET (DStv channel 198) and the Animania festival on M-Net Movies Smile (DStv channel 105) are also back as a special treat for our viewers, and brand new pop-up channel M-Net Inspire (DStv channel 109) will bring the festive magic to every DStv home this season,” says Alberts.

MOVIE LOVERS:
On Studio Universal (DStv channel 112) it’s a special “Countdown to Christmas” with double bills from 18h00 every Thursday, all the way to Christmas Day.

Brand new addition, M-Net Inspire (DStv channel 109), is the perfect pop-up curation for DStv Premium and Compact customers this festive season. Launching on December 16 at 06h00 and running until January 29 at midnight, M-Net Inspire will feature movies that are motivational and celebrate the triumphs of the human spirit. The channel will also play host to The T.D. Jakes Show, a heart-warming talk show hosted by the influential and inspirational faith leader, Bishop T.D. Jakes, at noon as well as at 19h00 every day.

BET (DStv channel 129) will also screen a Christmas movie every Saturday in December kicking off with Marry Me For Christmas on December 10, Marry Us For Christmas on December 17, and A Baby For Christmas on December 24.

The countdown to Christmas continues as Universal Channel (DStv channel 117) brings you a daily selection of festive films - Monday to Friday at 15h30 until December 23.

The gloves come off in the festive comedy movie, Love The Coopers on December 25 at 20h05 on M-Net (DStv channel 101). When a dysfunctional family come together for Christmas, everything else seems to fall apart.

Animania is back! Tune in until January 10 2017 from 06h00 until midnight, as M-Net Movies Smile (DStv channel 105) presents a great line-up of animated movies that will charm children and amuse adults alike.

kykNET has become synonymous with quality Afrikaans movies, and what better way to celebrate the festive season than with the return of the popular channel fliekNET until January 31, 2017. The special movie channel will once again be available on DStv channel 198 this summer.

MUSIC FOR THE FAMILY:
Two special holiday music channels will be available on the DStv audio package until midnight on December 25, 2016. Customers can enjoy their favourite contemporary hits, adult contemporary as well as pop holiday music on DMX Holiday Favourites (channel 756); and fans of smooth Jazz, contemporary instrumental and new age renditions of well-known holiday favourites can tune into DMX Holiday Instrumentals (channel 785).

Throughout December 2016 and January 2017, M-Net (DStv channel 101) will also treat viewers to a fun-filled music series showcasing chart-topping musicians and their famous muso friends. The M-Net and Friends shows will be screened exclusively on M-Net 101 at 17h30 on December 25 (Swing City and Friends) and January 1 (Kahn and The Parlotones and Friends).

FOR LOVERS OF GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT
On Christmas Day, Sony Max (DStv channel 128) will screen special festive episodes of Fear FactorChristmas Fear Factor” at 20h00, a Baywatch double bill entitled Silent Night Baywatch Night Parts 1 & 2 from 21h00, and Tattoo Nightmares - Merry Inkmas at 23h00.

Fans of British television will love ITV Choice’s (DStv channel 123) festive highlights including Paul O’Grady for the Love of Dogs at Christmas (December 23 at 20h00); Surprise Surprise Xmas (December 24 at 19h00); Grantchester Christmas Special (December 24 at 20h00); A Merry Murdoch Christmas (December 25 at 20h00); Benidorm Xmas Special (December 26 at 21h00) and Paul O’Grady Favourite Fairytales on December 30 at 20h00.

Catch 12 K’s of Christmas all day from December 19 to 30 on E! Entertainment Television (DStv channel 124). Watch as E! goes right back to the start of Keeping Up With The Kardashians: from Kim’s two weddings to Kourtney’s three children and Caitlyn’s transition, follow the family through the ups and downs (and fashion choices) of all 12 seasons of the hit show.

The hip shaking, Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Hairspray makes a colourful live debut on the small-screen on December 22 at 19h30 on M-Net (DStv channel 101), re-telling the tale of a fun-loving plus-sized teen in Baltimore, during a time of change in the '60s.

On December 23 at 19h30, M-Net will screen The Great Christmas Light Fight – a fun-loving series that sees four families compete to have the most elaborate and spectacular Christmas displays for a cash prize.

And as 2016 comes to a close, catch the industry’s annual fundraising event, The 2016 Royal Variety Performance, featuring legendary performers from around the globe, on December 31 at 20h35 on M-Net.

FOR THE YOUNGSTERS:
Disney fans can catch the movie premiere of Bob’s Broken Sleigh on December 4 at 08h25 on Disney Channel (DStv channel 303). Disney XD (DStv channel 304) also has a brand new Disney Mickey Mouse special on December 17 at 11h35 to enhance the celebrations. Nickelodeon’s (DStv channel 305) gift to audiences this holiday season is the premiere of Albert For The Holidays on, December 25 at 11h10.

Cbeebies (DStv channel 306) will feature the Go Jetters Christmas Special - a special festive edition of the colourful animation series - on December, 24 at 18h00; and on Cartoon Network it’s all Christmas love and holiday cheer, as the channel airs its most memorable and iconic shows on December 25 from 11h50, including Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, The Regular Show, We Bare Bears, Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls.

Just before 2016 disappears over the horizon, Disney Junior (DStv channel 309) brings the classic movie, Peter Pan to screens on December 31 at 18h30.
