The second #Durbs Comedy Night is all set to stage with a banging line-up featuring some of the finest funny men Durban has to offer.
Sagie Murugan, Neil Green, Carvin H Goldstone, Troy Tesla and newcomers Matt Armstrong and Daryl Williams are all set for the event which stages on December 23 at Garden Court Hotel, Marine Parade (DBN).
Murugan is no stranger to the funny stage, having cracked the comedy scene for a number of years now. He is revered for razor sharp comedy wit and suave stage presence. Green's edgy, sometimes controversial comedy, has seen him share the stage with most of the country’s top acts, performing at premier venues throughout South Africa; including at the Lyric Theatre, Emperors Palace, Parkers Comedy and Goliath Comedy Club (where he recently sold out his one man show!) With three sold out one man shows (since 2011), international tours and multiple awards Goldstone has earned respect across South Africa's comedy community.
Tesla is a name you're certainly going to want to keep an eye out for. The Durban-based MC, stand-up comedian and sit-down law academic has for years veered audiences of all descent into an absurd comfort of laughter at the backdrop of the pains of living in the era of the Trump-Mugabe-Zuma joke. The legendary Joe Parker (of the landmark Parker's Comedy in Joburg) has described him as "the next Trevor Noah" not only because he is half Zimbabwean and half South African, but also because he delivers a distinct and mature satirical take on topical domestic and global issues.
Tesla has awed audiences with some of the biggest names in the country including Kagiso Lediga, Marc Lottering, Loyiso Gola and Carvin H Goldstone's Best of Tour in 2016. He has appeared on popular stages around the country including: Outland Festival, Parkers Comedy Club and entertaining private audiences as large as 2000 in number.
He is currently a producer at Durban's Next Comedy Generation gig and is developing a TV Show.
#Durbs Comedy Night takes place on December 23 at 20h00 at the Garden Court Hotel, Marine Parade. Tickets R150 booked through Quiket.co.za or reserve seats via 083 2915702
