Mashiloane)
The young yet so seasoned pianist Sibusiso “Mash” Mashiloane
recently released his long -awaited debut album titled Amanz’Olwandle.
Mashiloane is an astute Durban-based multifaceted musician
who has studied and performed in America, and was awarded the merit for performance
in a prestigious SAMRO National Music Competition. He has worked with the likes
of the late American guitarist Ronny Jordan, Thandiswa Mazwai, Zakes Bantwini
and many other music heavyweights.
Mash is considered one of the most well-rounded and
versatile musicians whose multidimensional experience makes him insightful,
sensitive and appealing to a wide range of listenership groups. Some music
scholars know him as a music academic/ educator who holds a music Masters
degree, jazz aficionados know him a custodian of jazz tradition, youth is
getting to know him as the contributor who adds substance into the Dance music
scene.
His debut record is an accrual and reflection of every music
experience he has accumulated throughout his upbringing and music career. It is
a melting pot of fresh instrumental and vocal pieces that ooze with bold
Afrocentric and contemporary rhythms, sweet melodies and soulful harmonies. The
record is a must for anyone who appreciates African, Spiritual, Soul, Jazz,
Funk, Lounge even sophisticated House music.
