(Bobby van Jaarsveld)
In
the fifth and final instalment of M-Net’s local music specials, Afrikaans pop
heartthrob and The Voice SA coach Bobby van Jaarsveld rounds up the
series with a heartwarming concert for fans. He will host and perform in his own
M-Net and Friends special on Sunday night (January 22) from 17h30 on
Channel 101.
Local
music stars such as Kahn and The Parlotones, Arno Carstens, Swing City and Lira
previously appeared in this series of once-off music specials, which was
created to showcase and support some of the biggest acts on the South African
music scene. As was the case with van
Jaarsveld’s famous counterparts, he will be appearing in concert with
some special guests, including his sister Karlien van Jaarsveld, the Tshwane
Gospel Choir, Dozi as well as popular The Voice SA alum from Season 1,
blind singer Vernon Barnard!
Just
like his fellow Voice SA coach, Lira, van Jaarsveld has committed to mentoring talent from his team
above and beyond his duties on the hit series. Vernon, whose first “Blind
Audition” last year has garnered well over 10 million YouTube views to date,
has recently released his first single, and chats candidly about what he’s been
up to since he reached the Top 4 in the show. Fans can look forward to an
uplifting collaboration by van
Jaarsveld and Barnard of the classic Don’t
Worry, Be Happy, as well as other moving musical tributes by van Jaarsveld himself, as well as
Karlien and Dozi, who brings the house down with his interpretation of the
great Brenda Fassie’s Vulindlela.
van Jaarsveld will be back again on M-Net Channel
101 on January 29 at 17h30, along with his three fellow coaches, in the
premiere episode of Season 2 of The Voice SA.
