CHOREOGRAPHY MASTERCLASS

(Janine Bennewith)

The Durban Actors’ Studio present their first masterclass of 2017 which focuses on choreography with Janine Bennewith.

Bennewith has 22 years’ experience in the entertainment industry starting off as a dancer and performing worldwide for blue chip companies and associates. She is a multi-award winning choreographer, being contracted to choreograph numerous musical theatre productions nationally and internationally as well as choreographing and performing in world opening and closing events.

She is extremely versatile and choreographs numerous dance styles from jazz, contemporary, tap, pantsula, Bollywood, disco, Latin and Adage.

Over the three sessions, Bennewith will explore different techniques of choreography as well as breaking down the instrumentation in songs so one is not simply choreographing to the melody. She will also focus on different styles of dance, ways of creating pictures and stories through steps and ways in which to use the body (what reads and what doesn't).

The Masterclass takes place on February 13, 20 and 27 (all must be attended) from 17h30 to 19h00 at the Durban Actors Studio, 1st Floor, Corner Albert Terrace & Southampton Street, Point Waterfront, Durban.

Cost: R600 for all 3 sessions (R450 for 2017 Durban Actors Studio students). The Masterclass is suitable for adult and youth students, aged 17+, who want to expand their performance knowledge and network.
