MR BOJANGLES, DANCE

Beat-Route brings their show, Mr Bojangles – Dance, to Rhumbelow Theatre from February 17 to 26.

“Absynth makes the heart grow fonder,” says the group. “Come with us on a musical journey as Beat-Route celebrates the laughter and sadness of the Bohemian life, the riches and poverty of poetry, dreams, music, art, comedy and of course love. We sing songs where life takes no prisoners and the dog gets it. We take a few pages out the books of some of the great entertainers from Scott Joplin, Ronnie Scott, Spike Milligan, Louise Prima, Sammy Davis jr, Bra Hugh and much more. We have a laugh at life, love, each other, at you and at ourselves and celebrate the human condition. Join us for a musical feast of the spirit, gorge yourselves as we gorge ourselves.”

Expect a musical smorgasbord that stretches from the birthplace of Jazz and Rag in the brothels and speakeasies of New Orleans to the grazing grassy plains of South Africa and the vibrant street Carnivals of Cape Town.

The show features original interpretations of much-loved classics like My Funny Valentine, Mr BoJangles, Cry Me a River, and Happy and some original surprises.

“Join our ragtag crew for a few laughs and musical frivolities. You loved it last time and we’re hoping to cash in on that,” they add.

The group features Daniel Sheldon on trumpet/flugel horn; Tom Hare on saxophones; David Langley on keys; Riley Giandhari on drums and Logan Byrne on double bass with Zoe Masuku and Kerry Langley on vocals.
