(Adnan Sami)
Glow TV,
Blu Blood and Showtime Promotions in association with Hello Group present the
first Bollywood extravaganza of the year - Adnan Sami - Live in concert this
March.
After
four years, the maestro, Adnan Sami, is returning to South Africa for a
much-anticipated concert. Labelled as being one of the fastest keyboard players
in the world, the internationally renowned singer, musician, music composer and
actor will return to the stage for an unforgettable evening at the Durban ICC
on March 25.
Audiences
are in for a treat once again as he performs a collection of his Bollywood
blockbusters including Kabhi To Nazar Milao, Bhardo Jholi Meri and Lift Karaa De.
Apart
from being the first person in musical history to play Indian classical music
on the piano in a style he pioneered and created through the Santoor (a unique
Indian instrument), he can also play over 35 musical instruments including the
guitar, accordion, saxophone, sitar and violin.
Having
been born and grown up in the UK, he has successfully merged Asian and Western
music styles and instruments. While he does have a Bachelor’s Degree in
Journalism and Political Science and an LLB, his passion for music was his
inevitable calling. He started playing the piano at the age of five and
composed his first piece of music when he was nine years old. He rose to fame
during the 90’s with several hit albums and has also lent his vocals to many
mainstream Bollywood films.
Over his
career of 32 years, he has won many international awards including the Nigar
Award, Bolan Academy Award and Graduate Award, as well as having his
achievements acknowledged by the premier music channel, MTV who awarded him
Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2003. He was also the youngest
recipient of the Naushad Music Award for Excellence in Music.
In 2001,
Adnan received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Prime
Minister of Pakistan.
His
first single was released in 1986 with an English smash hit in the Middle East
which went straight to the #1 position in its first week. He was 16 at the time
and had written and recorded a song for the United Nations and UNICEF called Run For His Life. This was followed by
countless other hit singles and albums over the years. Shortly after becoming a
sensation, he was invited by a filmmaker to write music for an upcoming film.
This opened the doors for him to compose and sing for Hindi films and which led
to him getting acting offers at the same time. His work has associated him with
the greatest names from the Indian Film and Music industry.
After
taking a sabbatical and having undergone a full transformation by losing over
160kg, Adnan made a comeback in April 2007 with the smash hit album, Kisi In.
As a
classical concert pianist, Adnan has performed before royalty such as the King
of Sweden and King Hussein of Jordan and many important Heads of States.
