This year, The Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg
is opening two related exhibitions simultaneously on the same night (May 31).
The guest speaker is Dr Louise Hall, the current Head of the Centre for Visual
Art on the local campus.
The
KZN Midlands Matric Art Exhibition 2017 is a
selection of art works by Matric art students from local schools, mostly
produced in 2016. An external selector assisted the Gallery staff in making a
final selection, keeping in mind educational value, variety, quality and
available space. The resulting exhibition is a new, dynamic combination of
works.
On display will be drawings, paintings,
installations, prints, digital images, three dimensional works and creations
that sometimes defy traditional description. This healthy youthful search for
innovation makes a visit to the exhibition an exciting experience.
The
KZN Midlands Matric Art Exhibition 2017 runs from
May 31 at 18h00 to July 30 at 17h00. The Tatham Art Gallery is situated opposite the Town
Hall in Chief Albert Luthuli
Street, Pietermaritzburg. It is open from Tuesdays
to Sundays from 10h00 to 17h00. Café Tatham is open on Saturdays. Safe parking
with a car guard available. More information on 033 392 2801 or visit www.tatham.org.za
