The Parish Rector of the Parish of St John,
Steadville in Ladysmith, is asking for help in supporting the 67 Blankets for
Nelson Mandela Day project.
“67 Blankets fast became a national project
not only in commemoration to a man we referred to as the father of the nation but an expression of humanity and
compassion for one another by the citizens of South Africa,” explains Reverend
Sithole.
This year the Uthukela Archdeaconry has
extended the project to the Anglican Youth and has been inspired to gain skills
in knitting and crocheting by having sessions with elderly people who are able
to pass on these skills.
“As the youth of the Anglican Parish of St
John we are more than eager, through God’s grace, to achieve our intended goal
of knitting and crocheting blankets that will be given to the needy in this
winter of 2017,” Rev Sithole adds.
Donations of double knitting size wool and
of any colour is welcomed. Contact Miss Mandisa Zwane on 082 723 6935 or email mandisa.zwane22@gmaiil.com or Miss
