PPC IMAGINARIUM AWARDS

South Africa’s most supportive art and design prize, the PPC Imaginarium Awards, has announced its 2016/2017 finalists. A total of 55 finalists were chosen from across the country who will move on to the prestigious national judging round of the competition.

Three works were selected as finalists from Durban. Two sculptures from Mhlonishwa Chiliza - Preserving History Through Concrete and Concretising Diversity as well as a sculpture by Wonder Shangase titled The Living Dead.

The overall winner, category winners and runners-up will be announced on May 18, 2017, at the UJ Art Gallery in Johannesburg. Winners will walk away with a combined cash prize of R500,000 and have their work displayed at a number of auspicious galleries and events throughout the year in PPC Imaginarium's nation-wide travelling exhibition.
