PPC IMAGINARIUM AWARDS

The PCC Imaginarium Awards, South Africa’s most supportive Arts and design competition, will announce its 2017 winners at a gala event in Johannesburg.

From a total of 869 registered entries to a selection of 55 finalists, the PPC Imaginarium Awards will announce this year’s Overall Winner, Category Winners and Runners-up at a Gala Event hosted today (May 18, 2017) at the UJ Art Gallery in Johannesburg. The winners were selected from an array of imaginative concrete art and design works spanning the competition’s categories of Sculpture, Industrial Design, Fashion, Jewellery and Film. (No Architecture entries made it to the finalist round this year).

As one of the country’s most supportive art and design competition, the PPC Imaginarium Awards offers its entrants the chance to win substantial monetary prizes with the aim of being a launch pad for emerging creatives. The competition’s Overall Winner will walk away with a total cash prize of R150,000, while Category Winners and Runners-up will each be awarded R50,000 and R15,000 respectively. Furthermore, the winners will earn public exposure by way of a nationwide travelling exhibition, as well as media coverage and mentorships.

A project of the innovation department of PPC Ltd, the PPC Imaginarium Awards challenges artists and designers to express their creative abilities using cement as the primary medium. A winner of several BASA Awards, the PPC Imaginarium Awards has cemented PPC Ltd as a benevolent supporter of art and design in South Africa.

Members of the public will be able to engage with all of the finalists’ works at the UJ Art Gallery during a month-long exhibition that will run from May 18 until June 15.

After this, the finalists’ works will travel to a number of galleries and events across the country, including 100% Design South Africa, the Turbine Art Fair and the KZNSA Gallery.
