(“Selfie
with Christy”, oil on canvas by Joy Preiss, teacher at St Anne’s)
This year, The Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg
is opening two related exhibitions simultaneously on the same night (May 31).
The guest speaker is Dr Louise Hall, the current Head of the Centre for Visual
Art on the local campus.
Spotlight
on Matric Art Teachers, is an attempt by the Tatham
Art Gallery to honour local hard-working art teachers, who responded
enthusiastically when asked for their own art works. For these teachers to find
free time in order to create their own work is a tough challenge, and the
Tatham salutes their creativity and perseverance.
This exhibition runs alongside The KZN
Midlands Matric Art Exhibition 2017 from May
31 at 18h00 to July 30 at 17h00. The Tatham
Art Gallery
is situated opposite the Town Hall in Chief
Albert Luthuli Street, Pietermaritzburg. It is
open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10h00 to 17h00. Café Tatham is open on
Saturdays. Safe parking with a car guard available on the opening night. More
