Sisters Working in Film and Television
(SWIFT) was established in 2016 during the Durban International Film Festival
(DIFF). An interim board was mandated to formulate a constitution, legalise the
organisation and to set up a basic structure for the organisation.
This has now been accomplished. SWIFT will
hold its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) again at DIFF in July 2017. As per
the constitution, only members in good standing will be able to vote and stand
for election for the board.
SWIFT's core function is to nurture and
develop the interests of women in the South African audiovisual industry,
whilst recognising and prioritizing black women who are historically
disadvantaged. This will be through the active promotion of women in the industry
and the creation of a support hub for women.
Benefits of SWIFT membership include:
-Hone your craft with professionally hosted
skills development workshops;
-Keep up to date with brand new
developments in the industry with master classes;
-Make new contacts and develop industry
relationships through SWIFT networking events;
-Find the latest job postings and industry
discussions on the exclusive online platforms for women in film and television!
