AVA EXHIBITION

Deadline for submission: August 5 2017.

With the help of the Association for Visual Arts’ (AVA) long-term partners Spier, who supported their recent renovation, as well as the Joan St Leger Lindbergh Charitable Trust, Strauss & Co, and other incredibly valuable project partners, AVA is taking the association to the next level.

The AVA Gallery, which is situated in Cape Town, is an NPO with Public Benefit status, managed by a Board that is nominated and elected annually at its Annual General Meeting. The board is divided into sub-committees in order to affect the smooth running of the institution. The Selection Committee adjudicates proposals for exhibitions at the AVA.

AVA is inviting proposals from artists, curators, galleries and other art institutions for its exhibition schedule 2018. Application forms are available from AVA’s Facebook page or in hard copy or digital format at the gallery. Deadline for submission: August 5, 2017.

Short term, AVA is calling for art work for the following group exhibitions:

UNDER 18s ONLY is an exhibition that encourages collecting art from an early age onwards. It will take place in the AVA's Mezzanine Gallery from July 15 till August 12 in conjunction with the AVA PhotoFocus 2017. A crowd funding campaign is in the pipeline to seek support from parents, uncles and grannies who may be keen to introduce children to art collecting. AVA seeks from a "ready to hang" work in the medium of photography that can sell for R3,000 or less. Deadline: July 1 2017.

The AVA Gallery plays a vibrant and leading role in creating a dynamic focus through the promotion of art and cultural interaction, exciting exhibitions, walkabouts and a variety of other art activities.

Artists are invited to get involved, become a member, and to be part of South Africa’s contemporary art history. Join the AVA not only to get a front row seat to the country and the continent’s contemporary visual art scene, but also to ensure that your voice is heard – and ours made louder.
