MUSICAL THEATRE CLASS

Deadline: July 21, 2017

Is your child interested in singing, dancing AND acting?

If so, this is your last chance, for 2017, to get in the rehearsal room and on stage with the Durban Actors Studio’s Musical Theatre Programme.

The Musical Theatre class, for ages 10-17, is the perfect way to explore the magic of musicals and end each year with an international certificate in the field of Musical Theatre.

All students who participate during term 3 and 4 will be entered into the internationally recognised and acclaimed LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) Group Musical Theatre examination and perform in our 2017 Showcase.

Classes take place on Saturdays from 11h15 to 12h45 at the Durban Actors Studio, 11 Albert Terrace, in front of uShaka Marine World (secure parking @ uShaka)

The course aims to integrate singing, dance and acting; focus on large ensemble pieces as well as exploration of solo performing; learn new vocal and dance material, and acting through song

Students must be able to pitch accurately (this class is not a solo singing lesson). They must be able to learn and perform given choreography and commit to every Saturday class during term 3 and 4, as well as rehearse at home

Performances will take place during Semester 1 (term 1 & 2) informal studio showcase to friends and family as well as Semester 2 (term 3 & 4) LAMDA Musical Theatre Group Exam (mid-October) and Showcase at a local theatre (late October)

Fees are R150 registration fee (applicable to new Durban Actors Studio students) and R3,000 (payable over 2 terms - R1500 start of term 3 and R1500 start of term 4). The LAMDA Group Exam fee is covered by Durban Actors Studio

Semester 2 (Term 3 AND 4) registration closes July 21, 2017- no late entries will be accepted due to exam registration deadline and there are only 7 places available.
