(Lorna Panzenbock)
The next meeting of the North Coast Artists will take place
on June 10 in Virginia, Durban and will feature a demonstration by Lorna
Panzenbock of painting in oils.
Lorna Panzenbock was born (McLaren) . She was educated in
Germiston and worked and lived in Johannesburg. She later moved to Durban and launched
her career as an artist and teacher.
She paints in all media but prefers watercolours and oils
and paints subjects that are readily available on every corner. Landscapes,
mountains, skyscapes, seascapes, bird life, street scenes, figure studies and abstracts
etc., all of which are exaggerated to give the best dramatic effect of light
and shade. Photos and sketches are relied upon to compose a painting. Drawing
people in restaurants, coffee shops and parks are a must and every opportunity
is used to the fullest. A sketch book is kept on hand at all times for this.
Nude drawing from life is also a favourite.
Panzenbock has recently returned to South Africa after
living in Vienna for two years. Solo exhibitions were held in Vienna at the
United Nations Vienna International Centre, Bildunghaus Grossrussbach,
Korneuberg and Baden.
Although space is limited, art tuition is on offer. All framing
is done by her using professional equipment and materials. Art can be viewed by
appointment or in selected art exhibitions or supporting galleries. Commissions
are accepted on request.
The meeting takes place on June 10 from 09h00 to 12 noon in
the hall of The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 2 Newport Avenue, Virginia.
(Entrance just after Danville High School).
