East
Coast Radio’s Concert, Comedy and Craft in association
with 1Life will be held tomorrow (September 25) at the Durban Botanic Gardens.
The laidback event, staged on a public
holiday, will bring together a line-up of celebrated local musicians, popular
comedians and some of the best craft food and drinks that the province has to
offer.
Among the musicians who will be performing
are; iconic afro pop band Mango Groove, award-winning singing duo Mafikizolo,
music legends Ladysmith Black Mambazo and alternative rock band Gangs of
Ballet. While the line-up of comedians includes Darren Maule and Rory Petzer,
as well as Barry Hilton, Carvin Goldstone and Chris Forrest.
East
Coast Radio’s Concert, Comedy and Craft will boast
two stages – one with the headline acts and another with local acoustic acts.
It promises to be a great day out for the whole family complete with a food
market, a craft beer, gin and whiskey area, a kids’ zone, open air art and
drumming classes.
East Coast Radio’s GM Boni Mchunu says,
“We’re proud that East Coast Radio is rooted in the social fabric of KZN by
hosting some of the province's biggest and most loved events. We hope that this
event, a fresh new idea, will be as well received as some of the station’s
other events.”
Held the day after Heritage Day, the person
who is the best dressed in traditional attire at East Coast Radio’s Concert,
Comedy and Craft will win R50,000.
The fun day out starts at 10h30 and runs
until the afternoon. Tickets R150 for adults and children over 12 (R100 children
between 8 to 12 and R20 children under 8).
