The 10th annual Into the Light
Suicide Remembrance and Awareness Walk will take place on September 10 from
08h30 to 10h30, leaving from Durban View Park, Marine Drive, Umhlanga Rocks
The walk is held in conjunction with World
Suicide Prevention Day and anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide or who
like to help create awareness is welcome to walk. A donation of R20 to cover
the cost of materials will be appreciated.
“We will get together at Durban View Park
from 08h30 for 09h00. We will write on pebbles in remembrance of loved ones
lost to suicide - then take a short walk along the beautiful paved and
wheelchair friendly promenade to the Pier. At the Pier our pebbles will be
released into the sea. This walk is for everyone and all are most welcome. Join
our cause and create awareness. Together we can make a difference,” says
organiser Anton Lasich.
There will be free registration packs
available. These include a yellow ribbon, Survivors of Suicide materials and
resources, SADAG (South African Depression and Anxiety Group) materials and
resources, a pebble for you to write a message to your lost loved one. A
donation of R20 is asked to cover costs.
