Classical music lovers will be able to
enjoy a new series of Mid-Month matinee concerts at St Agnes Church in Kloof as
part of Christopher Duigan's popular Musical Revival series.
“After numerous requests for daytime
concerts in the greater Durban area, we have decided to stage these concerts at
St Agnes,” the concert pianist said. “It
is a wonderful venue for music, and is conveniently situated with easy highway
access. The church also has good parking, and is a wonderful setting to enjoy
the world's finest music.
"We recently invested in a new Kawai
grand piano, suitable for our concert performances at St Agnes. That, together with
the very favourable acoustic of the church, means we are looking forward to
helping audiences to discover more of the world's great classical music.”
The new hour-long concert series will take
place on the second Thursday of each month starting at 11h00. They will feature
Duigan and a variety of guest artists.
St Agnes Church will also host a morning
market with local fare and produce and the coffee shop at the church complex
will be open for refreshments before and after the performance.
The first Mid-Month Matinee will see Duigan
performing music by Handel, Beethoven's 'Waldstein'
and music by Liszt, Chopin and Debussy on September 14 at 11h00. Tickets R100
booked through call St Agnes Church on 031 764 2037 or email booking@musicrevival.co.za
