Marco)

player Muriel Marco is set to dazzle South African audiences with the launch of
her EP in the month of October and November 2017.
The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will
present a performance by her on October 4 ,2017.
Known for her jazz and world musical
styles, Marco is ready to impress her fans in KwaZulu-Natal with her latest
offering: Muriel Marco – No Direction (ND) Project. Having performed as part of
international group Tucan Tucan, as well as releasing her very own music, the
Muriel Marco – ND Project sees Muriel composing and playing music with no
boundaries regarding genre and instrumentation. For her KZN performances her
band will consist of Mxolisi Mdlalose on saxophone, Dalisu Ndlazi on bass
guitar and Riley Giandhari on drums.
Marco, says she is excited to take to the
stage. “I'm thrilled to bring this dream to fruition because it is a musical
project that I have envisioned for many years. A true reflection of my musical
journey,” admits Marco.
ND Project music is well-rooted on Marco’s
Argentinian, Latin, African and Jazz background but Alternative and even Pop
music influences emerge in the compositions. From Tango to Maskandi, Swing to
Chacarera, Mbaqanga to Toba lullaby, expect a vibrant, original project that
will ensure a unique experience.
At the age of 19, Marco embarked on a
journey from Argentina to South Africa to study English where she automatically
fell in love with Southern African music styles. It's these styles, together
with her love for Jazz and Argentinian Folklore music, which inspired Marco to
develop the Muriel Marco – ND Project.
“South African Jazz lovers will be
transported into my world in which creativity, unheard sounds and feelings
collide,” promises Marco.
