(Mim
Erasmus with her puppet, Suzy)
Rhumbelow Theatre will present Seaside Suzy, a short glove puppet-making
workshop and puppet show with Mim Erasmus
Auntie Mim will guide youngsters through
the process of making a puppet – you can bring along anything you like – a
wooden spoon, a piece of cloth, tin can, paper, anything 'found' and she will
have fun making your own puppet and making up stories for all of them to
perform.
Auntie Mim will also take you through the
process of the making of one of her beautiful glove puppets, from finding the
fabric, to sewing it, and putting the 'character' in as you go. She and her
husband John will tell how they started out with a few puppets and a booth that
he made and worked up from there, to the wonderful stories they have to tell,
and all the characters in them nowadays.
This musical Puppet Pantomime has all the
attributes of a large stage pantomime - good story, comedy, music and singing
along, but on a smaller scale. Come along with Suzy and her friends as she
spends a musical day at the seaside with her Granny. She meets Roy, the Rainbow
Boy, a shark, donkey and rabbit, as well as Christopher Crocodile.
Mim and John have been touring their glove
puppet pantomimes for 30 years, delighting children of all ages Follow the adventures
of KZN’s favourite characters – Suzy Granny and Christopher Crocodile.
