Direct from Russia and for the first time
in South Africa
Hot on the heels of the announcement of SPLASH! – THE WATER CIRCUS visiting
South Africa for the first time, direct from Russia, for a nationwide tour
which opened at Silverstar Casino in August, comes the news that the second leg
of the tour will be in KwaZulu-Natal from mid-September to mid-November.
SPLASH!
– The Water Circus is a circus for the modern-age,
presenting a variety of all circus genres, but with a unique, visual twist. The
traditional acts look completely different as they are presented in – or above
- a 12-metre diameter pool of water. Accompanying this is a dazzling lighting
and laser show which perfectly displays the impressive body manipulation and
contortion feats amongst a series of water fountains.
Onlookers will gasp as they watch
traditional aerial circus acts such as the spectacular Silks all take place
above water. Added to the already impressive list of circus acts is the
Brazilian Espana family performing their daredevil Wheel of Death and The
Russian Swing.
In addition to all the circus acts which
viewers are accustomed to seeing, the show also has a full team of synchronized
swimmers who add to the magic of the performance. Their disciplined and well-trained
displays are one of the reasons why the show is considered to be so unique.
This circus is totally free of animals and
showcases the extreme talent and capabilities of the human body in an
action-packed show presented around the custom-built pool ensuring a truly
memorable audience experience.
SPLASH!
– The Water Circus will take place at three venues
across KZN:
DURBAN: The Big Top at Suncoast from September
22 to October 21.
PIETERMARITZBURG: The Big Top at Golden
Horse Casino from October 27 to November 5.
NEWCASTLE: The Big Top at Blackrock Casino
from November 9 to 12.
Performances at all three KZN venues are
Thursdays and Fridays at 20h00, Saturdays at 11h00, 15h00 and 19h00, Sundays at
11h00 and 15h00.
Ticket prices range from R100 – R375 and
bookings are through Computicket at www.computicket.com or by calling 0861 915
8000.
Says Matthew Cook, SA producer; “We wanted
to take this unique entertainment experience to as many South Africans as
possible while the circus is visiting from Russia, so we are thrilled that we
were able to secure three popular venues in KwaZulu-Natal as well, as part of
the nationwide tour.”
NB: No
children under 2 will be allowed into the auditorium and most especially no
babes in arms.
